Ron has enjoyed many varied musical opportunities in his career thus far: teaching instrumental music to junior and senior high school students for 31 years; touring his performing groups across Canada, the US, England, Ireland and France; playing in and conducting the Chester Brass Band for ten years; involved with the East Coast Music Awards as well as the PEI Jazz and Blues Festival for three years.
He has broadened his interests into the field of music festivals and student travel. He has operated Atlantic Festival of Music for 20 successful years in Halifax, launched the Toronto Festival of Music in Ontario, and is pursuing the same for the city of Montreal.
Ron is also the founding partner in School’s Out Tours, a tour company specializing in student educational travel.
He has had the pleasure of working with several community bands in the past: Cape Breton Second Winds, Halifax Second Chances, and the Annapolis Community Band.
Ron presently lives in Charlottetown with his wife Jennifer and their children, Clare and Clark. He recently retired from teaching at Birchwood Intermediate School and is now involved in a conducting and playing capacity with a new brass band that is being formed on PEI.
