CHORAL FEST In a Nutshell
|
|
We are extremely excited to bring you the very first Bathurst Choral Fest weekend in conjunction with Bathurst Band Fest and Bathurst Boogie: Swing Dance Fest all happening at the exact same time! A wealth of talent and enthusiasm for performing arts will be all under one roof as we hope to build lasting memories from an unforgettable experience during your time in Bathurst.
A workshop for those new to group singing, or those who have been doing it a while, but would like to brush up on their skills.
This choral weekend will focus on a variety of vocal/choral topics, skills, genres and rehearsals. It will conclude with a public performance so that participants can use the skills they have learned and share in the joy of singing with others! The only requirement to be a part of this is to have a love of singing and a desire to learn more. No choral experience is necessary!

Rosalind Kennedy-Townsend has experience as performer and music instructor that spans four-plus decades. She is a musician, retired music specialist and elementary school principal residing in Bathurst, New Brunswick. A native of Newfoundland, she grew up with a rich, musical heritage – beginning her musical studies and solo career at a very young age. Rosalind continued formal voice training at Memorial University of Newfoundland where she was also a member of the university’s Concert and Baroque choirs, as well as its Jazz Ensemble.
Rosalind has extensive choral conducting experience. She has directed youth choirs, community choirs, church choirs, combined school district choirs, and her own elementary and senior high school choirs. Many of these have earned local and provincial recognition for their tremendous performances and benevolent commitment.
Rosalind has always believed that music is for everyone, and her ultimate goal has been to ensure that music is accessible to all, despite one’s experience or training. She is well-known in the Chaleur region for creating, organizing, producing and directing numerous choral concerts and large-scale stage productions in support of local charities. Rosalind received the Rotary Club International’s covetous Paul Harris Fellowship Award in 2017 for her ongoing commitment to her community.
