SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The schedule for the Bathurst Band Fest weekend will continue to be updated as we tweak final details.  This page will be used to keep participants current on the latest events and changes to the schedule.

Friday, Sep 23rd, 2022
*Neighbouring classrooms will be made available for individual practice on a first come-first serve basis.

5:30pm Registration and Check-In St. John St Lobby
5:30pm Warm-Up on your own

6:30pm Session 1.1 – Concert Band Rehearsal & Reading Session in Theatre
8:00pm End of Reading Session
8:45pm Evening Social Event– No additional cost.  Will be held in the BHS cafeteria.  There will be non-alcoholic punch and small finger foods available.  A 30-minute team trivia game will be put on by the Mann family with friendly competition and fun!  Come and join us - connect with old friends and make some new ones!  There may even be an impromptu swing dance demonstration!

Saturday, Sep 24th, 2022

8:00am Late Registration and Warm-Up on your own
8:30am Session 2.1 - Group Warm Ups by sections or instrument families. Use of Theatre, Music Room, classrooms.
9:00am Session 2.2 – Jazz Band Rehearsal in Theatre
9:00am Session 2.3 - Those not playing in Jazz Band can practice individually on weekend repertoire, seek out help as needed, or observe rehearsals.
9:00am Session 2.3 - Take in a swing dance session in the Chalmer's Gym

10:30am Break, Coffee and Refreshments
11:00am Session 3.1 – Concert Band Rehearsal in Theatre
11:00am Session 3.2 – Jazz Improv Introduction, Discussion, and Demonstration with Dave & Chris in Music Room
11:00am Session 3.3 - 
Take in a swing dance session in the Chalmer's Gym
12:15pm Lunch Break – Pizza & Beverages Provided on-site (included in your fee)
1:00pm MINI JAZZ COMBO PERFORMANCE in Theatre: Dave Hills & Chris Guindon
1:30pm Session 4.1 – Jazz Band Rehearsal in Theatre
1:30pm Session 4.2 – Brass, Woodwind, Percussion Sectionals in Music Room & surrounding classrooms as desired [To work on parts of music for concert and/or network about playing techniques, routines, etc. with others]
1:30pm Session 4.3 - 
Take in a swing dance session in the Chalmer's Gym
3:30pm Stretch & Washroom Break
3:45pm Session 5.1 – Concert Band Rehearsal in Theatre
3:45pm Session 5.2 - 
Jazz Improv Discussions & Playing continued with Dave & Chris in Music Room
3:45pm Session 5.3 - Take in a swing dance session in the Chalmer's Gym

4:45pm End for the Day
5:00pm Supper Break - on your own
6:45pm Danny's Event Centre Doors Open for Dance/Cabaret
7:30 - 8:30pm Intro Swing Dance Lesson for ANYONE who purchased a ticket

Saturday Evening Social Event 2022
Big Band Dance & Cabaret will feature local 23-piece big band, Phantom Jazz (featuring vocalist, Alysa Collins) as well as some invited guests.  Please indicate in your registration if you will be attending this event.  Event will also be open to the public.  Cost for dance weekend participants is included in your registration fee.  Cost for the public is $20 for advanced tickets from Phantom Jazz Band members or at the door while supplies last.  LIMITED TICKETS AVAILABLE DUE TO SPACE.  To be held at Danny's Hotel Event Centre (1223 Rue Principale Beresford).  Cash bar will also be available. Professional photographer, Lisa McVeigh, will be on-site for portraits and action shot from 7:00 - 9:00pm.  Feel free to get dressed up in a fun swing outfit!

Sunday, Sep 25th, 2022

8:30am Arrival and Warm up on your own
9:00am Session 6 – Full Rehearsals or Sectionals in Theatre as needed
10:15am Coffee & tea will be available on site at this time
10:30am Session 7 – Final Rehearsals for Finishing Touches Prior to Finale Concert
11:45am Lunch Break – Chicken Bouillon, Biscuit & Beverages provided on site (included in your fee)
12:30pm Dress and prep for Concert, warm up on you own and tune up
**Concert Dress Code: We would like to encourage you to wear your home band uniform if possible.  If no specific uniform, we ask that you wear either all plain black or black on bottom and Band Fest souvenir tee shirt.
12:45pm Doors Open, Audience finds their seats
1:00pm Bathurst Band Fest / Bathurst Boogie: Swing Dance Fest Finale – Public Performance – BHS Theatre
2:30pm End of Concert and Dismissal
