Dr. James Kalyn

Dr. Kalyn is a highly respected conductor, clarinetist, and saxophonist, and a professor at Mount Allison University’s School of Music. With decades of experience directing university, youth, and community ensembles, he is passionate about inspiring musicians to achieve their best while enjoying the process of making music together.

James has performed and taught across North America and internationally, but his heart is firmly rooted in the Maritime music community. He brings enthusiasm, warmth, and deep expertise to this new provincial ensemble, ensuring rehearsals are both educational and uplifting.
