CHORAL FEST CONDUCTOR

ROSALIND
KENNEDY-TOWNSEND

Choral Conductor + Clinician
Picture
Rosalind Kennedy-Townsend has experience as performer and music instructor that spans four-plus decades.  Based in Bathurst, New Brunswick, she is a vocalist, musician, retired music specialist and principal, and dedicated vocal coach. A native of Newfoundland, she grew up with a rich, musical heritage – beginning her musical studies and solo career at a very young age.  Rosalind continued formal voice training at Memorial University of Newfoundland where she was also a member of the university’s Concert and Baroque choirs, as well as its Jazz Ensemble.

Rosalind has extensive choral conducting experience.  She has directed youth choirs, community choirs, church choirs, combined school district choirs, and her own elementary and senior high school choirs.  Many of these have earned local and provincial recognition for their tremendous performances and benevolent commitment.

Rosalind has always believed that music is for everyone, and her ultimate goal has been to ensure that music is accessible to all, despite one’s experience or training.  She is well-known in the Chaleur region for creating, organizing, producing and directing numerous choral concerts and large-scale stage productions in support of local charities.  Rosalind received the Rotary Club International’s covetous Paul Harris Fellowship Award in 2017 for her ongoing commitment to her community.

Rosalind’s most recent milestone, achieved in 2025, is the completion of five years of intensive vocal study, culminating in an ARCT in Vocal Performance with First Class Honours. As the Royal Conservatory of Music’s highest distinction, the ARCT (Associate of Royal Conservatory) highlights her enduring dedication to advanced musical development and lifelong learning.
